The life after the war ended in 1975 can be tough. Many left wounded, disabled and struggled with PTSD, with poverty and receiving little supports from the Party. Still, the Vietnamese veterans are one of the most inspiring people we’ve ever met. Despite the hardships, the daily difficulties, traces of positivities never seem to leave their face.
Phu Tho’s Social Program was created in 2015 to help these veterans having a better life, those who sacrificed their youth, their health, who had left part of their body on the battle field to protect our country. By participating in the program, they are taught important skills in growing, cultivating, and taking care of flowers & fruit trees as a mean to make more income. And most importantly, we want to show them an another way to feel empowered, being useful and contribute to society, even just a little.
From only 8 people signed up in 2015, we now have more than 30 people participating in our Social Program in 2018, and the number will continue to grow.
