The story started in the early 2000s when Ms Lien - founder of Tonkin was diagnosed with cancer caused by unsafe food. At the time, food safety was and until now has been Vietnam's national problems and top the list of worries among public.
Many people knew certain food value chain stakeholders lack ethic and allow over use of chemicals in food production, trading to make profit irrespective of adverse health effects on consumers.
Motivated by the idea that could help fighting against the unethical practices in farming, Ms Lien established Tonkin with a clear mission to support Vietnamese local farmers harvesting chemical-free, high quality food products in ways that are both socially and environmentally responsible.
Fast forward to 2020, Tonkin is proud of our milestones in food projects such as potatoes, coffee, pepper, food leaves and many more, all thanks to our passionate team that made us known safe foods, quality products and excellent services
